The Scents of Fall!

The smell of fall is definately in the mountain air, go out in the early morning and the air is cool and crisp, its like heaven on earth. I have a little itty bitty farm with ducks, geese, dairy goats, chickens, 2 sweet beehives and one BAD GUINEA bird whom upon escaping from the coup runs directly to the little red car to stand there, all day, gazing at his beautiful (he thinks so anyhow) reflection in the car door, shwoooooeee, what a crazy bird. That crazy guinea fowl also loves to scare my lil sweet chihuahua half to death, the dog goes running off of the porch and the guinea comes sneeking from around the car and flies on little dogs back. Oh what a bird!!!!!!!!
I still love the derned thing, life would most definatley be boring without it. Anyhow my husband and myself went to a tractor festival last yr and he bought a heaping pile of junk that sort of resembled a apple cider mill. He brought it home and all of last winter he sanded, and sanded and sanded and painted and primed and cut out new pieces of cherry wood, anyhow i ended up with the most beautiful of all cider mills, don't want to brag but it is the truth, and you gotta tell the truth. We made our first batch of apple cider the other evening and it was totally blissful!
Enjoy your Autumn, go outside and stand still and listen! You may here an Owl hooting, drink some cider and curl up with a good book!

Adventures in knitting a heart shaped dishcloth

Oh my, I got a beautiful book on knitting dishcloths. I usually just crochet them but I wanted to make some that are pretty with a little design, so this book has 14 patterns with all different hearts. I started this probably 6 times so far and have to keep ripping it out, I either miss a stitch, drop a stitch, or the dog runs off with it, uggh! I don't think it is meant for me to make this dishcloth!!!! We will keep trying, maybe when it's done it will be a triangle and not a heart, ha ha!! Got on etsy today and ordered some new supplies, japanese fabric that is so adorable, cannot wait to receive the package. I am trying to whip up alot of different little goodies so that I can start my own shop on etsy. Wish me luck!!

Saanen goats are driving me crazy

Well I thought that I would be extra nice and loving to my little family of goats and take them up on the high mountain for a little fresh air, some nice bark, briars and weeds. Oh my, got one out of the goat pasture and he was about to beat me up, he went flying by me and pushed the lid off of the chicken barrel where the chicken feed is and he helped hisself, just a guzzling. So I went back to get Dora and it was like a train coming, she knocked me over and went to get the chicken feed as well. Little Frodo was standing in the doorway of the goat barn just as sweet as could be, he just didn't understand why his parents were being so bad. Ha, ha!

Another day on the homestead

Up early today with lots of things to do, clean the ole house, bake some bread, yummy! Finally found a great recipe for the bread, I don't like whole wheat, it is too strong so I found a white wheat flour, unbleached, and I followed the recipe on the bag, it turned out great. I had no trouble at all with the yeast, which in the past has been very intimidating for me. The bread was great.
I am trying really hard to get enough courage to start a shop of my own on Etsy, I love to craft and I am interested in just about everything, it takes alot of thought and planning! So wish me luck and blessed day to all those fellow house wives out there, stay out of the heat!
Gotta take the nanny goats up on the mountain today to get some good exercise and to eat some bark, ha ha they love bark and briars. While they do that I will pick some blackberries for a pie!!!

The beginnings of BLOGLAND!

Oh my how intimidating it can be too actually set up your own blog. Well I attempted to create a blog, hopefully it won't be too pitiful, ha ha!
Now what do we talk about? Well I would like this blog to be about what I love which is crafting, creating different things out of an imaginative mind who still thinks somewhat like a little girl. Also living a self-sufficient life surrounded with clean air, flowers, vegetables from my own garden, and all of my critters and pets who live here with me on this little farm. Cooking, cleaning, gardening, animal care, good books, old movies, antiques, thrift shops, and the pure love of life and being a woman.
Anyone like to join me?
Ha, ha well I sure hope so, I have plenty of recipes to share and stories to tell!!!
